Should you Change your Career?

Published by toby33 at 11:12 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Sometimes we are in a career and job that we absolutely hate.  If you hate it that much and have the opportunity for another job, go for it.  The same goes for if you are only in college.  Maybe you have completed three years towards a degree in a certain field.  You do an internship before your senior year and find out you hate it.  You can’t change it now, it’s too late, right?

That’s part of why you should do an internship, to see if you like it.  If you really hate it, don’t persue it.  All you’re hardwork will not go to waste.  If you’ve gone for 3 years, most of what you done is either a general education requirement that is required no matter what your major or you can use as an elective.  Even if it takes an extra year to get a degree, it’s worth it to get it in an area you are sure you will like.

Should you change your career?  Whether you’re already in a job or you are halfway through your education, think long and hard about it.  This is something you are going to do for many years to come.  It might take a little bit of time and some extra work, but wouldn’t you rather do something you love?

    Hello toby33,
Career changes are like a breath of fresh air when you’ve been trapped without fresh air for some extended and uncomfortable period of time. While not poetic, it is true! Most of the time, when you feel like you want to change your career path, your gut is right! Luckily, it isn’t as scary as it once was to change your career. In fact, changing careers is a competitive advantage.

Most people are able to use their experience or at least the fact that they have worked at something else to work toward what they want now. I personally use my former work as a bookkeeper and real estate assistant to write for the finance and real estate industries.

Keep up the good work on your blog. You have a great tone: it is both comfortable and professional.

I look forward to reading more of your career blog.

    Have a good day,
    Jessie
